Sol Study light vs Aliwalas Home: the glowing sunset panel, closer to home

Updated

If you've been on TikTok lately, you've probably seen the Sol Study light: a square acrylic panel that looks like a soft gradient painting until it's switched on, and then glows like a low sun on the wall. It's by the designer Tyka Pryde, and it's lovely.

If you live in the Philippines, though, buying one means paying in US dollars, waiting on international shipping and possibly paying customs at the door. Aliwalas Home makes the same kind of piece here: an acrylic artwork lamp that's gradient art by day and a warm glow by night, priced in pesos and delivered locally.

Aliwalas Home is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Tyka Pryde or the Sol Study light. Sol Study is their product and name. We make our own pieces in the same family of illuminated art panels. Their details below come from their public listings and posts as of September 2026 and may have changed, so check their site for current prices and shipping.

Our pieces

Why buy locally instead of importing

A glowing art panel is big, flat and fragile, which is exactly the kind of parcel that costs the most to ship across an ocean. By the time a US$289 panel reaches Manila, you have paid for the piece, international freight and possibly customs duties and VAT, and your card may add a foreign-exchange fee on top. If the acrylic cracks in transit, sending it back is another round of freight.

Our pieces are priced in pesos, delivered free within Metro Manila, and paid for by GCash, Maya or bank transfer. There's no customs line, no waiting on an overseas courier, and if you need help, you're talking to someone in the same country.

Same idea, our own designs

We are not selling a copy of the Sol Study light. Aliwalas Home makes its own acrylic artwork lamps: a framed panel printed with a soft color gradient and lit from within. Takipsilim, Tagalog for dusk, is a gold horizon fading into violet in a woodgrain aluminum frame. Siklab, a sudden flare, is a red-orange ember on a coal-dark field in a matte black aluminum frame. With the light off, each one hangs like minimalist color-field art. Switch it on and it fills the room with a warm glow.

Which size should you get?

If you liked the 30 × 30 in Sol Study, our 800 × 800 mm (about 31 in) is the closest match and works well above a sofa or bed. If you liked the 20 × 20 in, our 550 × 550 mm (about 22 in) suits a desk wall, a hallway or a smaller room. Use the living-room preview on our home page to see both sizes to scale above a sofa, switched on and off.

Questions

Is Aliwalas Home the same as Sol Study?

No. Sol Study is a light by the designer Tyka Pryde, and Aliwalas Home is a separate company in the Philippines. We make our own acrylic artwork lamps in the same style: gradient art by day, a warm glow by night.

Can I buy the Sol Study light in the Philippines?

Sol Study is sold from Tyka Pryde's website in US dollars. Check their checkout to see whether they ship to the Philippines and what it costs; imports over ₱10,000 can also be charged duties and VAT. If you'd rather buy locally, Aliwalas Home makes similar illuminated gradient panels, priced in pesos with free delivery in Metro Manila.

What is the closest Aliwalas piece to the Sol Study Sunset?

Takipsilim. It's a dusk horizon of gold and amber fading into violet, in a woodgrain aluminum frame. For a deeper red-orange glow, look at Siklab.

Do you deliver outside Metro Manila?

Yes. Delivery within Metro Manila is free, and we quote shipping to the provinces after you order.
